Once in Prague we realized the Euro was not the currency and
we had to switch to crowns. At the ATM Abby and I had NO idea what the exchange
rate was like and the options were 500c, 1000c, 2000c, 3500c and 5000c. Um
okay...
I pulled out 2000c expecting to get a collection of hundreds
and twenties or something. Nope, I got a 2000 note. The paper money as well as
the coins look like fairy tales. It turns out that 100c is about $5 USD.
An image of the Currency, seriously though apparently they also have a 5000 note
Our next money adventure came when we went out for dinner.
We were both super excited after our few days of heavy German food to find
salads prominent on the menu of the restaurant we were at --- for 79c or about
$4 USD and beer for about 35c or $1.75. These weren’t small salads or small
beers either. We went all out, salad for both of us, beer, coke, cheese cake,
and ice cream – all for about $30 USD.
I’m going to call it right now. Prague will be the least
expensive of our trip.
