Lagi Como (day 2)

We felt that the day before we had explored a lot of Como, it is a very small town after all. On that thread, we decided to get a ferry day pass and essentially town hop across the lake (side note, although we were on the same lake as Bellagio, we skipped it because it was a three hour ferry ride away).

We hopped around to four other towns. They all looked very similar to each other, and still had a very Sausalito like feel to them.

In one town we stopped for lunch. Our lunch consisted of a panino (fun fact, panini is plural), and a bottle of wine. Needless to say, it was not that much food with a lot of wine and we were feeling it.

After our ferry hopping adventures we headed back up to Enza’s house to rest for a while.

We had already planned on going back to the same restaurant as we had the night before. One because it was excellent, and two, it was right across the street from a gelatoria bar where the Eurocup was being shown and Italy was playing that night.

We were a bit nervous going to watch the game because every time we watched the Eurocup when the country we were in was playing, that country had lost. Luckily Italy just wasn’t having it. We had a lot of fun meeting some nice and very entertaining Italian guys. They made sure to find out who we were rooting for since they knew we were American and the game was England v. Italia.

Obviously we told them who we were for Italia and from then on it was a party. Abby even called an Italian guy out because he was wearing a Ben Sherman shirt which just so happened to have a Union Jack on it. He was quite embarrassed. Carlo, the man we talked to the most was hilarious. Every time Italy almost scored, scored, had a good play, blocked a goal, or simply walked onto the field he would shout “APPLAUSIO” and everyone would applaud. After Italy won, meaning they were playing in the finals, the bar obviously went crazy. Carlo practically threw Abby up into the air in excitement.

The owner of the bar was also extremely nice. We arrived about twenty minutes into the game because our dinner ran late. Since it was such a small town, all the outdoor seats, the seats around the TV, were taken. The owner brought us seats from the backroom and placed them all but in the front row. He also made us THE BEST mojitos ever. I wish I had a picture of them. They were so pretty and equally as delicious with fresh lime/lime juice and fresh mint.
The very stoned looking children's ride at the gelatoria bar

The next morning we headed back to Milan to meet up with Abby’s dad and brother, but Enza made us her epic breakfast again which consisted of: proscuitto, toast, bread, cheese, jam, nutella, cornettos, fruit, and homemade cappuccinos.
One of Enza's cappuccinos.
