On our way to Prague we had a four-hour layover/Train over
in Berlin. Again, given our luck, it was pouring. We were determined to see a
little of the city though.
Somehow, we managed to stuff our suitcases and some of the
contents of our backpacks into this locker:

After cramming our stuff in the locker, still surprised we
managed as well as we did, we walked over to part of where the Berlin Wall once
stood. I don’t remember ever having learned about the wall in any of my history
classes other then “a wall was up in Germany that separated east from west,
people who tried to cross were killed.” I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I
certainly wasn’t expecting the remnants from two walls to be visible, albeit
barely. A lighter stone in the plaza now marks the path of the walls, not for
very far though as buildings – many of which were consulates, have been built in
the last twenty years.

From the Berlin wall we walked to grab lunch. We found some
traditional German food and both ordered a large meatball with mustard and a
salad. It was very good, and much, much better than our potato adventure the
day before.
