Berlin

On our way to Prague we had a four-hour layover/Train over in Berlin. Again, given our luck, it was pouring. We were determined to see a little of the city though.

Somehow, we managed to stuff our suitcases and some of the contents of our backpacks into this locker:

 and it looked like this.

After cramming our stuff in the locker, still surprised we managed as well as we did, we walked over to part of where the Berlin Wall once stood. I don’t remember ever having learned about the wall in any of my history classes other then “a wall was up in Germany that separated east from west, people who tried to cross were killed.” I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I certainly wasn’t expecting the remnants from two walls to be visible, albeit barely. A lighter stone in the plaza now marks the path of the walls, not for very far though as buildings – many of which were consulates, have been built in the last twenty years.

From the Berlin wall we walked to grab lunch. We found some traditional German food and both ordered a large meatball with mustard and a salad. It was very good, and much, much better than our potato adventure the day before.

Also on the train apparently I forgot my name:
